You can feel the difference of a quality barbecue even more than you can see it.

Many of these benefits are Not obvious at first viewing. But the longer you keep your barbecue, the more important they become.

Solid Construction

Thicker steel: BeefEater barbecues use at least 1.5 mm steel for increased rigidity and strength.

Continuous Welding: Unlike many products which are simply tack or spot welded, BeefEater products have a continuous welded seal around all edges. This prevents leakage of grease onto the patio floor, a common problem in cheaper products.

Vitreous Enamel

Fired onto high grade steel at over 800°C, vitreous (glasslike) enamel provides a complete protective barrier around the base metal.

Its benefits are many:

  • Provides complete protection against rust
  • Available in a variety of colors
  • Exceptionally easy to clean
  • Very scratch resistant
  • Long lasting - does Not peel off like paint.

    Stainless Steel

Commercial grade 304 stainless steels are known to have the best high temperature strength together with superior resistance to scaling and corrosion. For this reason it is the most common of the steels used in commercial food catering and processing equipment.

The benefits are:

  • Highly attractive sheen
  • Hard, long lasting, shock resistant
  • Very hygienic.
  • High degree of corrosion resistance

Even the drip tray is stainless steel, although on many other brands you'll look underneath and find it's less durable galvanized steel.

The Control Panel

The control panel is the hands-on part of the barbecue, where you turn the burners on and off.

After the cooking surface, it's the part you look at most.

    Control Knobs

  • Good grip: Large, chunky, easy grip handles make life easier when you're trying to control the flame, and your hands are covered with sauce.
  • Safety: The knobs cannot be accidentally knocked on. In order to turn the gas on, you need to push the knob inwards, then turn.

    Ignition

  • Reliable rotary: The ignition and valves used in BeefEater barbecues have been independently tested to last literally for tens of thousand of uses.
  • Many modern ignition systems fail in use because of high heat and exposure to the elements. The rotary ignition system which BeefEater uses has been used on barbecues successfully for over 20 years.

    Control Panel

  • Ergonomic angle: Most barbecues in the BeefEater range have the knobs angled upwards so they can easily be seen and accessed.
  • All models in the range have the knobs positioned so they are protected from grease and oil spatter.

The Roasting Hood

A roasting hood turns your griller into an oven, giving you a new dimension in versatility.

The BeefEater roasting hood is designed to accommodate a wide variety of foods and cooking opportunities.

The roasting hood works by circulating hot air and cooking vapors around the food. It allows you to cook indirectly, without heat directly under the food. It also traps in flavor, reduces cooking time and is more fuel efficient.

High Profile: the curves of the hood give you maximum internal volume, allowing you to fit the largest possible roast or turkey.

Unique Balanced Design: Instead of all the weight of the hood being supported on the back hinges, BeefEater have split the hood into two sections:

  • A fixed section which provides full wind shielding when the hood is up.
  • A moving half which pivots from the side and slides over the fixed section.
  • This two part design allows the hood to be made of a heavier gauge steel yet still be light enough to move up and down since the rotating half is smaller than on most other designs.
  • Importantly, it also allows the hood to open and close within the confines of the barbecue, allowing you to position the barbecue closer to a brick wall.

Warming Rack: Provides more room for cooking by effectively providing another cooking surface. It doesn't get in the way, but instead uses the otherwise dead space at the top rear of the unit.

Temperature Gauge: Large and easily viewable, the gauge is properly calibrated to give you an accurate idea of cooking temperatures, without needing to open the hood.

Glass Viewer: Many hoods have a glass viewer made from high temp ceramic glass. This material is exceptionally scratch resistant, easy to clean and keep clean, and offers ideal protection against breakage from temperature extremes.
